a mug for a CPTer named Mark
Just now Kathy got back from a shopping trip. She was in a mall and she noticed a stall selling ceramics exactly like we'd seen in Palestine. She went over and the shopkeeper asked if she'd ever seen ceramics like this before. She said, "Yes! When I was in Hebron two weeks ago." And then the story came out and it turns out this man was encouraged by a CPTer named Mark nine years ago to come to London to study. Now he is working on his doctorate.
Kathy wanted to buy a mug as a gesture of support, but then the guy gave it to her for free! She thinks really, Mark should have the mug.
Another slant on the situation in Gaza specifically, this man commented to Kathy that it's even worse now because it isn't just Israelis against Palestinians, but Palestinians against each other.
It brings to mind the divide and conquer strategy that worked so well for the British on that same piece of land last century.

I think I know the Mark that this guy was talking about. I just sent him a link to your blog. Thanks for sharing your continued reflections and responses to your time in Israel-Palestine.

What an amazing story! Maybe some day Mark can come to London and meet him and get a mug from him. I love the mystical flow.
Thanks Tash! Please do!
